Aquatic Creatures

Colorful Birds

Nassau is also home to an array of bird species. Look in coastal trees and you might spot white-crowned pigeons. If you’re closer to the coast, see if you can spot ospreys and pelicans. See flamingos, the national bird of the Bahamas, at the Ardastra Gardens & Wildlife Conservation Center.

Reptile Life

As you make your way to the Queen’s Staircase or wander the Fish Fry, keep your eyes open for reptiles and other land creatures. You can see hermit crabs scuttling across sandy beaches. Curly-tailed lizards are commonly seen soaking in the sun on paths and walls around Paradise Island.

Unique Encounters

While not native to Paradise Island, you can see pigs on an excursion to Exuma. Here, you can meet the famous swimming pigs and hang out with them in crystal clear Bahamas waters.  Another fun and unexpected sight is manatees, which are occasionally spotted near Paradise Island’s marina areas or in Nassau Harbor.
